If you think that being dateless on Valentine’s Day is depressing, then it’s time for a reality check. While the heart shaped chocolates and oversized balloons may seem sappy while you are single, that doesn’t mean that you can’t embrace the love in the air and celebrate your love… for yourself. That’s right, if you are single on Valentine’s Day then you don’t have to spend strenuous hours on deciding how to make someone else’s day special, instead you get to be selfish and think of ways to splurge on making sure that your day is perfect. After all, you deserve it, don’t you?

Here are 5 ways to celebrate yourself on Valentine’s Day.

1.     Indulge in Yourself!

Valentine’s Day is a day celebrating love, so why not celebrate the day loving yourself? Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on your Valentines’ gift, spend the money spoiling yourself. Whether it is your favorite roses, chocolate or a piece of jewelry, there is no harm in splurging on a little Valentine’s Day treat.

2. Don’t be a Damper… Just Pamper Yourself!

Let’s face it, there is something very peaceful about being alone. So, instead of dreading your alone time this Valentine’s Day, embrace it. Plan a day to pamper yourself – whether you are planning a day at the spa or giving yourself a facial- if you plan a day of relaxation, you will find yourself actually looking forward to Valentine’s Day. And the pampering shouldn’t end there — head to a salon to get your nails and hair done, maybe even try a new hairdo. It will help boost your confidence.

3. Celebrate Being Single With Friends.

You are not the only person that is single on Valentine’s Day. Call up your single girls for a night on the town or host a little get-together to celebrate being single on Valentine’s Day. Being around other single friends on Valentine’s Day will help you enjoy being single and feel loved by your friends.

4. Get a Change Of Scenery.

When it comes to a distraction, leaving town usually does the trick. If you have been meaning to visit a friend in a town nearby or take an overdue vacation, now is the time. Everyone needs a change of scenery once in a while, and when better to explore a new city then when you are feeling lonely? Whether you opt to use a few vacation days that you saved up or just drive to the nearest city, having a change of scenery will keep you feeling refreshed and distracted.

5.     Stay Home For The Holiday…But Use Your Time Wisely.

If traveling is not your forte, staying home is perfectly okay, too, but use your time wisely. Spend a few hours of your day joining all of the dating apps and sites to fully put yourself on the market and connect with other singles in your area. Talking to guys and connecting with people nearby will help you feel like you are back in the dating game and ready to meet someone special.
