Flavorful Cinco de Mayo Cocktail Recipe By Expert Mixologist
It’s almost Cinco de Mayo, a festive Mexican holiday that calls for celebration, dancing, dining and the search for the perfect tequila cocktail.
Each year, bartenders and mixologists around the country work hard to create the ultimate tequila cocktail in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
Did you know? Many people think that Cinco de Mayo (the fifth of May) is Mexico’s Independence Day, which takes place on September 16. In actuality, Cinco de Mayo is a separate holiday dedicated to celebrating the Mexican victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
Inspired by the occasion, Brian Matthys of New York City’s The Gander and Corkbuzz, masterminded the “Las Flores de Mayo,” a refreshing, incredibly flavorful tequila cocktail with the aroma of agave emanating right from the glass! The recipe includes DELEÓN® Tequila‘s new Platinum. Made from 100 percent Highland agave, DeLeón Platinum Tequila is an un-aged, provocative Blanco with a rich, complex agave honey that is slow-fermented and twice-distilled. Also in this brilliant concoction is verjus (unfermented grape juice), which brings a bit of fruity sweetness, Velvet Falernum to add spice and citrus, and cacao bitters as the finishing touch.
