Knickerbocker Hotel Opens Highly-Anticipated Times Square Rooftop Lounge, Restaurants

The newly-revamped luxury lifestyle hotel, The Knickerbocker, announced the opening of three unique dining destinations  this month, each in partnership with renowned Master Chef Charlie Palmer.

Officially known as a New York Landmark opened in 1906 by John Jacob Astor IV, The Knickerbocker Hotel overlooks Times Square on 42nd street between Broadway and Bryant Park.

The three brand-new dining venues include an upscale and expansive full-service restaurant, a grab-and-go coffee and pastry shop, and the highly-anticipated St. Cloud rooftop bar and lounge with awe-inspiring city views. More details on these fab restaurants below.

Fine-dining at The Knickerbocker Hotel

Located on the fourth floor overlooking Times Square, a glamorous full-service 100-seat restaurant and chic bar and lounge that can seat over 40 guests. Designed by the Hotel’s New York City-based design firm, Gabellini Sheppard, the restaurant draws in guests with subtle romantic touches and textures like chainmail drapes, a Carrara marble bar top and finishes, elegant lighting, and an open action kitchen. Serves breakfast and lunch in the dining room and dinner served in the adjacent bar room, with menus inspired by Palmer’s renowned progressive American cooking style. high-powered breakfast meetings complete with customized breakfast caddies featuring a selection of fresh juices, freshly baked breads and pastries, coffee and tea, and more. Lunch is seasonally driven with locally sourced items, while dinner offers a more intimate setting including signature menu items such as Scotch Quail Eggs with Pop Corn Shoots, Dijon, and Pancetta Aioli; Grilled Romaine Hearts with Garlic Breadcrumbs, Shaved Pecorino, and Honey-Lemon Emulsion; and The Knick Burger, a dry-aged custom blend patty topped with short ribs and Irish Cheddar served on a brioche bun made by Aureole baker, Peter Edris. The lunch and dinner menus designed by Chef Palmer and The Knickerbocker’s Executive Chef Cliff Denny will also feature The Knick Test Kitchen, a daily special menu featuring two to three variety meat offerings that will include dishes such as Veal Head Cheese and Flash Seared Sweetbreads.

The hotel’s ground-level espresso bar.  Its name honors John Jacob ‘Jakey’ Astor VI, the son of John Jacob Astor IV, who originally opened The Knickerbocker in 1906. Guests are welcomed through a barrel vaulted ceiling, creating a sanctuary for New York City locals and visitors alike. JAKE’s @ The Knick offers an all-day menu, featuring coffee and espresso provided by Brooklyn Roasting Company and artisanal flatbreads from Sullivan Street Bakery.

A 7,500-square-foot rooftop bar and terrace, slated to open this spring. St. Cloud will feature a seasonal menu with small plates expertly paired with a progressive cocktail program. The 7,500-square-foot space will be one of the most remarkable rooftop bars in New York City, complete with a signature cigar lounge from celebrated tobacconist Nat Sherman, and the Waterford Crystal Lounge – a luxurious space featuring custom furniture from acclaimed British designer Jo Sampson, as well as glamorous Waterford bar and stemware. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating options, St. Cloud will offer all patrons a true, unforgettable New York experience.
