My 10 Must-Have Lipsticks For Fall
BY ALEXANDRA AUBRY
Hi, my beauties. With fall just around the corner, I wanted to bring to you my top 10 favorites along with lip liners I wear with them. I do have a bunch that I love that are limited edition, but I decided not to include them since you can’t go out and buy them. I hope you all find a new color or two that you want to try out!
1. Gerard Cosmetics 1995
Created by the incredible Jacyln Hill, this lipstick is bringing back the ’90s in full force. It’s an incredible pink/mauve/brown nude that works for all skin tones. Most exciting of all, I just recently discovered that this is a dupe for the very popular Limited Edition Rihanna Lipstick Bad Girl Riri from her Mac Cosmetics Holiday Collection. That lipstick sold out in a matter of minutes and is selling on eBay for around $100! Finding a dupe for this was a big win for me!
Finish: Matte, but goes on very creamy and is not drying whatsoever.
Lip liner used with it: Mac Cosmetics Whirl and Spice.

2. Mac Cosmetics Mehr
I was looking for a lipstick that stayed more true to the “mauve side” instead of brown. When I found Mehr, my search was over. I have to just let the color speak for itself.
Finish: Matte, but again, anther one that applies creamy and does not dry out my lips.
Lip liner used with it: Mac Cosmetics Whirl and Pro Long Wear Liner in Nice N’ Spicy.
3. Stila Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick in 03 Patina
This lipstick goes on liquid and dries to a matte finish and, like it says in the title, it stays all day! This is a more dusty rose mauve that you can layer on to intensify and deepen the color.
Finish: Matte, and I will never lie to you guys; this one is a bit drying. Make sure to exfoliate and moisturize your lips before applying. If this is something that bothers you, this isn’t the lipstick for you.
Lip liner used with it: Mac Cosmetics Cremestick Liner in Beurre and Jordana Easyliner in the color Tawny. Jordana lip liners are only $2 and amazing quality! You can find them at Walgreens.
4. Mac Cosmetics Chili
I am a certified red lipstick hoarder and realized what was missing from my collection was a burnt red with orange undertones. If you’re familiar with Mac and their cult classics, you probably have heard of the color Lady Danger. Chili is Lady Danger’s dark relative. It is a must-have fall color, in my opinion, and is appropriate for all ages.
Finish: Matte and not drying.
Lip liner used with it: Mac Cosmetics Brick
5. Lime Crime Velvetine in Wicked
This is a true burgundy. It’s the same story as the Stila Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick — goes on liquid and dries matte. The difference between the two is that the formula of Wicked is more watery when applying. This is my favorite burgundy in my collection and a must-have for that classic fall lip.
Finish: Matte. Slightly drying, but not to the point that it’s a bother.
Lip liner used with it: Jordana Easy Liner in Plush Plum.

6. Mac Cosmetics Sin
I purchased this when it was only a Pro color, which means you could only purchase it online or at a Mac Pro store. This color was so popular that it is now available in almost every Mac store and counter. It is a dark burgundy plum, which is the definition of a vampy limp.
Finish: Matte, but creamy and not drying.
Lip liner used with it: Mac Cosmetics Nighmoth to vamp it up, or Currant, to stay more true to color.
7. Mac Cosmetics Heroine
This is one of Mac’s most popular shades. It’s a bold bright purple that I think is made for all seasons. When I feel like being colorful and fun, I rock this color for a night on the town. It is definitely not for everyone, but if you like to be bold with your lips, then Heroine is a must!
Finish: Matte, slightly drying, but not bothersome.
Lip liner used with it: Mac Cosmetics Magenta
8. Mac Cosmetics Rebel
This was my very first lipstick purchase from Mac, which started my obsession. This is a great plum that has a lot of pink shining through, and it looks completely different depending on how many applications you apply. It’s what I like to call a “gateway vamp lipstick.” What I mean by that is that it’s considered a vamp lipstick until you get used to it and want to go darker and darker!
Finish: Satin, no shine but more creamy than a matte.
Lip liner used with it: Jordana Easyliner in Cabernet.
9. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Black Dahlia
This is a very unique product because of how many different shades of color you can get from this one lipstick, from a light magenta to the darkest purple, close to black. I always heard rave reviews about OCC Lip Tars and when I was at the Makeup Show in New York City, I had to give one a try. I’m a vamp dark lip lover, so Black Dahlia was the obvious choice and I don’t regret it!
Finish: Dries to a matte, which is extremely moisturizing.
Lip liner used with it: Mac Cosmetics Nightmoth to vamp it up or Magenta.

10. Mac Cosmetics Smoked Purple
It doesn’t get darker than Smoked Purple — this color is not for the faint-hearted. This is dark, bold and in your face! If you are familiar with Mac Cosmetics Cyber lipstick, this is a close relative to that, only better, in my opinion. If you want to get on the dark side and feel semi-goth yet still girly, pair this with long lashes and work it!
Finish: Matte, which could be a little drying but nothing that will be a bother.
Lip liner used with it: Mac Cosmetics Nightmoth
