Symphony Space’s Artful Dining Series Allows Guests To Engage With Cultural Icons
Connoisseurs of arts and culture might be interested in participating in one of the most exclusive art events of the year.
Guests will be invited into private homes to watch intimate performances and interviews, plus dinner, brunch or a cocktail party. It costs $250 per ticket, which buys entrance into one event for one person.
Many well-known individuals will be in attendance, including Leon Botstein, Nicholas Canellakis, Lenore Fishman Davis, Emilie-Anne Gendron, Philip Glass, Daniel Gortler, Laura Kaminsky, Tania León, Idith Meshulam, Denis O’Hare and Marcus Samuelsson.
Some of the events are already selling out.
“It varies by event and the host’s capacity,” Rebecca Ackerman, associate director of Development for Individual Giving of Symphony Space, told New York Smash. “October 26th’s ‘Cocktails and Chamber Music [on Central Park West]’ and November 4th’s ‘Philip Glass and Tania Leon’ only have a couple of seats left for each. The others have 6 to 12 spots left.”
Overall, the series of events is unique because it allows guests to further the dialogue and engage with artists and curators, while raising funds to provide for signature arts programs, according to Ackerman.
“Many of Symphony Space’s programs, such as the Thalia Book Club, Thalia Film Club, and our In the Salon music series, encourage conversation between artists and audience members,” Ackerman continued. “But, because Artful Dining events convene a much smaller audience, patrons can converse at greater length and in more depth with the artists they admire.”
